Almaty, Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan is a country 4000km long by 1000km wide, the biggest of the Stan’s, and rich in oil and minerals.

Almaty the old capital is a charming city, set against a high mountain range, that features an impressive ski resort and ice racing stadium.

A bustling city with a very diverse population, reflecting the numerous races and religions that have played a part in creating this city. There are many signs of the old Russian days with plenty of horrible buildings, but this is giving way to a far more modern city, with a growing middle class.
