On the Silk Road from Bishkek Kyrgyzstan to Kashgar, China
Two epic days traveling on roads carved by Silk Route traders several ages ago.
Starting in Bishkek, we drove 400km to Naryn then onto Kashgar in the Xinjiang autonomous region of China via the Torugart pass (320km). A drive time of over 17 hours.
The scenery was phenomenal changing dramatically by the hour. The road started in arid open plains, then into river carved valleys who's waters breath life into the dry lands. Before climbing into a monotonous Pamir region, with majestic peaks up to 7,000m. Once over the Torugart pass we dropped into another utterly isolated area with very different colours and contours before reaching Kashgar.
